Prepare to be amazed! Hidden beneath your feet there are miles of rifts, tunnels and chambers waiting to be discovered, amazing sights to be encountered as you climb, scramble and slide around caves throughout Nidderdale AONB and the Yorkshire Dales.
Walk, Crawl, Abseil or Climb – it’s your choice but don’t expect to keep clean! You could find yourself wading through water, climbing underground waterfalls and sliding through mud. If you are looking for something a bit different and don’t mind getting dirty then this is for you. We have numerous options and routes with a varied difficulty, so if small spaces aren’t your thing no need to worry. All our caving instructors either hold a LCML Award or the Cave Instructor Certificate CIC. We also provide other activities such as Gorge Walking, Ghyll Scrambling, Canyoning, Canoeing, Climbing and host Yorkshires only Via Ferrata Course which is 1 of 3 in the UK.

We have been operating in the Three Peaks and Malham area of the Yorkshire Dales for 26 years. Our instructors are local, qualified and experienced cavers and all members of the local cave rescue team. YDG is led by Dave Gallivan who holds the Cave Instructors Certificate and has lived and worked in the area most of his life. He has been caving since he was 14 and has an extensive of all the local systems as well as many abroad.
We run caving trips for people on their first adventure underground right through to advanced SRT trips. We can offer self rescue and expedition sessions too. All kit supplied.
YDG has the only full SRT barn in the area at our base near Stainforth where vertical caving techniques can be taught safely indoors. The barn has 3 platforms, traverse and rigging bars as well as changing rooms, toilets and brewing up facilities.

Low Mill Outdoor Centre, a converted water mill, is beautifully situated on the edge of the village of Askrigg, Wensleydale in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It was opened in 1976 to run activity courses for groups of young people of all ages. Low Mill is a non-profit making Charitable Trust run by a Management Committee elected from the local people. Caving is often the most enjoyed activity at Low Mill, especially favoured by school groups for its educational benefits.
